Patrol Division

As in most law enforcement agencies, the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division has the responsibility to provide immediate response to most Calls for Service within Beauregard Parish.

The Patrol Division is led by Patrol Commander Will Martin, a twenty year veteran with the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The Patrol Division consists of four shifts, each comprised of six deputies. Each of the four shifts has a Lieutenant and a Sergeant on shift. The Patrol Division also has a K9 trained in the detection of illicit drugs.

Many residents of Beauregard Parish are unaware of the volume of Calls for Service that the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office responds to each year. On average the Sheriff’s Office responds to over 7,000 Calls for Service per year. In 2015, the Sheriff’s Office made approximately 2000 arrests; and a large majority of those calls and arrests were made by the Patrol Division.

Complaints worked by the Patrol Division range from the mundane to the life threatening. Patrol deputies receive all training pertinent to functioning as a Patrol Deputy as required by the Louisiana Peace Officer Standards and Training Council. All patrol deputies are required to receive at least 21 hours of continuing education each year beyond their academy and field training. Patrol deputies are often sent to receive instructor-level training in a variety of law enforcement tactics so they may, in turn, instruct other deputies within the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office, along with officers from other agencies.

Deputies assigned to the Patrol Division drive fully marked and equipped patrol rated vehicles which allow them to be easily recognized as law enforcement. They also wear easily recognizable uniforms consisting of a gray uniform shirt that is fully patched and black trousers. Deputies assigned to the Patrol Division are the most recognized and most visible members of the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Members of the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division are ever vigilant and ready to respond to the immediate needs of anyone in need of help and that is a duty they are proud to carry out every day.
