The Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Registration program is supervised by Deputy Valeria Franks.
Currently, Dy Franks oversees between 120-130 Registered Sex Offenders at any time. Some of Dy Franks responsibilities as the Sex Offender Registration Officer consist of conducting personal visits with each registered offender at set intervals (depending on the classification of the offender) and collecting fees from the offender as mandated by the laws of the State of Louisiana.
Dy Franks also does individual address verifications on each offender, as well as monitoring what vehicles the offender drives and/or owns. Dy Franks also makes sure that the offenders are in compliance with laws regarding their Driver’s License(s)/ID’s, and makes sure that they do what is required of them concerning community notifications.
Registration of Sex Offenders in Louisiana is broken down in Tiers. The State of Louisiana requires that offenders convicted of certain offenses have minimum amounts of time that they must register with Law Enforcement as Sex Offenders. The chart below is an abbreviated example of how the Sex Offender Registration Tiers are established:
Tier 1: Minimum 15 year registration with Law Enforcement and requires the Offender to see the Sex Offender Registration Officer at least once a year.
Tier 2: Minimum 25 year registration with Law Enforcement and requires the Offender to see the Sex Offender Registration Officer at least every six months.
Tier 3: Mandatory Lifetime Registration with Law Enforcement and requires the Offender to see the Sex Offender Registration Officer at least every 90 days.
**Anyone interested in the law pertaining to Sex Offender Registration can look at Louisiana Revised Statute 15:541 for more information.
